FaZe vs NiP – Match Analysis for ECS Season 7 Europe

Posted on March 12, 2019 - Last Updated on August 27, 2020

FaZe and NiP will battle it out in the part of ECS Season 7 Europe Week 1. Both of these two teams won their initial matches and they will certainly look to advance through to the grand final and try to win their ticket for the ECS Season 7 Finals.

FaZe vs NiP

Form

Both of these teams recently participated in the IEM Katowice 2019 Major. Even though both of these teams played in The New Champions Stage, I do not think they were satisfied with their performances.

  • FaZe

Out of their last 5 matches, FaZe is sitting comfortably with 3 wins. They lost to AVANGAR in the IEM Katowice 2019. However, this game could have easily gone either way and FaZe could have won Mirage if they were a bit luckier.

After AVANGAR edged them out on Mirage, FaZe stepped up against compLexity as they were able to beat them in a best-of-3 series. Even though we had to see a decider in this one, FaZe was in control throughout the entire series, and I never felt like they were going to lose.

In their game against Cloud9, FaZe was on another level. They simply left Cloud9 without a fighting chance in this game, as they closed the best-of-3 series in under 70 mins. NiKo was firing on all cylinders and once he gets going there is no stopping him.

However, once they had to play against another top tier team, Faze struggled and they had no chance of winning a map against Natus Vincere. S1mple and co. were simply better prepared and it can be seen from a mile away that FaZe is lacking strategies against stronger teams.

Lastly, FaZe’s opening match in the ECS Season 7 Europe Week 1 against Virtus.pro was a real thriller. After suffering a heavy defeat on Train, FaZe came back stronger than ever. Let’s just say that NiKo was the one who made this victory a possibility. Having 74 kills throughout 3 maps says a lot. Needless to say that NiKo also had a lot of clutches in this best-of-3 series.

  • NiP

Just like FaZe, NiP is sitting on 3 wins in their last 5 bouts. Swedes started things off with a dominant win against HellRaisers where they left them with only 5 rounds to their name.

After stomping HellRaisers, MIBR decided to stomp NiP. Swedes stood no chance against up and coming MIBR roster and they were not able to win a single map against Brazilians.

NiP bounced straight back with a nail-biting victory against another strong team, Vitality. Even though NiP did not look so good in this match, they were still able to pull through. However, no one knows how would this matchup end up if Vitality players were not sick.

In The New Champions Stage of IEM Katowice 2019. NiP was matched against Astralis. They stood no chance against Danes and all of their hopes were extinguished really fast. Astralis was able to beat them comfortably over the course of 2 maps.

Map Pool

Both of these teams share a similar map pool. However, there are also some differences which will be discussed in this section.

Let’s start with permabans. FaZe does not play Nuke, and this is definitely going to be their permaban. On the other hand, NiP was never known for their plays on Cache, and they will most likely ban this map.

When it comes to good maps, NiP enjoys playing Train, Mirage, and Overpass. However, their recent results on Overpass suggests that they probably want to skip this map. FaZe is comfortable on Inferno, Cache, Dust 2, and Train.

It is going to be hard to predict map veto for this match since there are a lot of X-factors, but we here at Counterstrikebetting will try our best.

MAP VETO

FaZe remove Nuke
NiP remove Cache
FaZe pick Inferno
NiP pick Mirage
FaZe remove Overpass
NiP remove Dust 2
Train is left as a decider

Head-To-Head

FaZe and NiP played against each other on a total of 26 maps. FaZe was able to win 15 of these bouts, while NiP has 11 wins to their name. What’s interesting about this match is that two last meeting between these two teams happened on BLAST Pro Series Lisbon and BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen.

From their past results, NiP should feel comfortable on Inferno, simply because they were able to force a tie once. However, in their second meeting on Inferno, NiP left FaZe with only 4 rounds to their name. On the other hand, FaZe defeat NiP on Train not so long ago.

FaZe vs NiP Summary

Both of these teams are going to get a map where they are comfortable on. This can only mean one thing, we will see a decider in this best-of-3 series. These two teams are evenly matched in a lot of departments, but FaZe is much more individually skilled than NiP.

I believe that experience will be able to net NiP a map in this meeting. On the other hand, FaZe will probably win their map pick quite comfortably, and this all leads to one conclusion. Who is going to be a victor in a deciding map?

Given the fact that odds are excellent for this bet, I simply have to take it because there is a lot of value in this bet.
