Sprout vs ENCE – Match Analysis for ESEA MDL Season 30 Europe

Posted on March 6, 2019 - Last Updated on August 24, 2020

Another match that is going to be played as a part of ESEA MDL Season 30 Europe. For some reason, the second placed team, ENCE, found its way here. At the moment, the Finnish roster is placed towards the bottom of the league. However, they have only played 4 games so far, and I am sure that they will come out on top. On the other hand, Sprout played a total of 12 games so far. They were successful in 8 of those games. At the moment they are ranked as the 5th best team in the ESEA MDL Season 30 Europe.

Where can I place my bet?

Sprout vs ENCE

Form

Both of these teams have been very active lately, ENCE especially. They are coming off from a very solid performance on IEM Katowice 2019. On the other hand, Sprout has been very active, mostly in the Pinnacle Cup.

  • Sprout

Out of their last 5 matches, this German roster has 3 victories to their name. They have clinched victories against strong opponents in the likes of AGO and Spirit. They were able to edge out AGO in a very close best-of-3 series. After two very competitive maps, Sprout made it look easy on Mirage.

After beating AGO, Sprout suffered a defeat to ALTERNATE aTTaX. They bounced straight back as they trashed expert. It seems like Sprout is simply not able to string a couple of wins in a row. They unexpectedly lost to Chaos, a match that they should have never lost.

Lastly, Sprout stepped up in their last best-of-3 series against Spirit. Once again we had to see a decider, and yet again Sprout pulled through. Just like in their decider against AGO, Sprout stepped up massively in the last map of the series, as they left Spirit with only 5 rounds to their name.

  • ENCE

ENCE is going straight back to action after an excellent performance on the IEM Katowice 2019 Major. They looked stellar there, and the only team that could beat their team play and cohesion was Astralis.

In their last 5 matches, ENCE has 4 victories. All of their matches have been played in a best-of-3 series, which means that ENCE was much more active once compared to Sprout. Firstly, ENCE was able to beat G2 with a very dominant scoreline.

After their performance against G2, AVANGAR was up next. This did not bother ENCE at all, as once again they looked on a level above others.

Once ENCE was able to qualify for The New Champions Stage, we all thought they were going home in their next game. Boy did they prove us wrong! They stomped Liquid. They did not drop a single map in this best-of-3 series. Liquid simply did not have a chance in this one. After beating Liquid, ENCE was matched against another CSGO giant, Natus Vincere. S1mple and co. were looking solid, but they had nothing on ENCE. Even though Natus Vincere won Dust 2, that was all they did.

Sadly, ENCE fell short in the grand final of IEM Katowice 2019, where they suffered a heavy defeat to Astralis.

Summary

Since this is a best-of-1 match, and the map has not been announced yet, we can only summarize this match from a couple of perspectives.

Firstly, ENCE is coming to this match with a lot of experience and gameplay under their belt. They were runner-ups in the last Major, and I am sure they will transition to ESEA MDL Season 30 Europe with a winning attitude.

Secondly, if we are to compare individual skill for both teams, we would find a big gap. Sprout is a team filled with washed up veterans of the game. On the other hand, ENCE is filled with young guns who are firing on all cylinders.

Last but not least, ENCE is definitely a better team in this match. They enjoy playing structured and methodic CSGO, while Sprout is basing their play on winning individual duels. From my perspective, this is where ENCE will thrive, and I am sure they will come out on top in this one. Odds are too good to turn down, and I believe ENCE will dominate Sprout in this best-of-1 match.
